Privacy Policy
We built Synapsi to handle some of the most personal material a student has: their lectures, notes, and gaps in understanding. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the controls you have. The short version: your content is yours, we never sell it, and we never use it to train AI models.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Service:
- Account data: your email and, if you add it, your name and school.
- Your Content: recordings, uploads, transcripts, notes, flashcards, and chat messages you create.
- Usage data: basic, privacy-preserving analytics about which features are used, to improve them.
- Billing data: handled by Stripe; we never store your full card number.
How we use it
We use your data to transcribe audio, generate study material, sync across your devices, process payments, and provide support. Transcription and generation run through trusted processors (for example, our speech-to-text and language-model providers) under contracts that prohibit them from training on your data or retaining it beyond what's needed to return a result.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your personal data.
- We never use your recordings or notes to train AI models.
- We never share Your Content with advertisers.
Your controls
You can export your notes anytime, delete individual items, or delete your entire account from Settings, which removes Your Content from our active systems. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA, including access, correction, and deletion. Email privacy@synapsi.app to exercise them.
Data retention and security
We keep Your Content while your account is active and delete it shortly after you delete your account or close your account. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access by our team is limited to what's required for support and is logged.
Children
Synapsi is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
