This free CSV to Anki converter turns a spreadsheet into an Anki deck file. Pick a .csv, .tsv, or .txt file, or paste two columns from Google Sheets or Excel. The first column becomes the front and the second the back. Skip a header row, check the cards, and study them on the page. Then download an .apkg that opens in Anki, AnkiMobile, or AnkiDroid. No account, no AI.

Why use this csv to anki
File or paste
Pick a .csv, .tsv, or .txt file, or paste the two columns straight from your spreadsheet.
Real CSV support
Quoted fields with commas or line breaks inside them are read the right way.
Choose the split
The page finds the split on its own, or you pick Tab, Comma, Semicolon, Dash, or your own text.
Study before you download
Flip the cards, take a test, or edit any card on the page, then download the deck.
Who it's for
Students with a word list
Keep your terms in a sheet and turn them into a deck whenever the list grows.
Teachers
Build a set in a spreadsheet and give the class an Anki file.
Anki users
Skip the import screen. Get a ready deck with the name you want.
Your cards are never stored
It works without an account. Your cards are read in your browser. To build the .apkg, they go to our server, which packs the deck in a temporary folder, sends it back, and deletes it right away. Nothing is stored, and no AI reads your cards.
Questions
How do I turn a CSV into an Anki deck?
Pick your .csv, .tsv, or .txt file above, or paste the text. Each row is one card: the first column is the front and the second is the back. Name the deck and press Build Anki deck to download the .apkg file.
Can I use Google Sheets or Excel?
Yes. Put the front in column A and the back in column B. Download the sheet as CSV and pick the file, or select the two columns, copy, and paste them here. A paste from a spreadsheet comes in tab separated, which works too.
My file has a header row. What do I do?
Tick the box to skip the first row, so a row like front and back or term and definition does not become a card.
What about commas inside a card?
Put that field in double quotes, the way spreadsheets save CSV. Quoted fields can hold commas and even line breaks. You can also pick Tab, Semicolon, Dash, or your own text as the split.
How many cards can one deck have?
Up to 5,000 cards. The deck is text only, so pictures and audio are not carried over.
Is my file stored?
No. The file is read in your browser. To build the .apkg, the cards go to our server, which packs the file in a temporary folder and deletes it right after. No AI reads your cards.
